House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is the latest Republican leader trying to save his job against a conservative coup.
But he’s got one thing going for him that his recent predecessors didn’t. The public, especially Republicans, generally likes him.
Backed by former President Donald Trump, the Louisiana Republican has a 44% favorable rating. In the latest Rasmussen Reports survey shared with Secrets, his approval rating has improved from 39% in February. Some 32% have an unfavorable view of him.
And 87% said that Johnson is better or about the same as past speakers, including 89% of Republicans.
