Social Security update: March direct payment worth up to $943 goes out today

The next monthly Supplemental Security Income payment, worth up to $943 for individual filers, went out to millions of beneficiaries on Friday.

The payment went out March 1 to people who struggle with a serious debilitating disability, and have a limited income, according to the Social Security Administration.

April’s monthly installment will go out in just over four weeks, on Monday, April 1. 

In order to qualify for the SSI payments, a person needs to be at least partially blind, or have a “physical or mental condition(s) that seriously limits their daily activities for a period of 12 months or more, or may be expected to result in death.”

The maximum amount each filer can get depends on the way each of the recipients applied for the payment. There are three categories
