Trump to sidestep abortion in brief remarks to Christian advocacy group

Former President Donald Trump will largely steer clear of abortion in his brief remarks to a Christian group that opposes the procedure on Monday.

In a two-minute virtual address to the Danbury Institute, the former president made a passing reference to defending “innocent life” after the Biden campaign criticized him for speaking to the organization but otherwise avoided abortion, a political flashpoint in the presidential race.

“We have to defend religious liberty, free speech, innocent life, and the heritage and traditions that built America into the greatest nation in the history of the world,” Trump will say in a prerecorded video, according to remarks obtained by the Washington Examiner.
