House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) dismissed concerns over a motion to vacate the speakership, even as threats to his tenure continue.
Johnson was asked on Fox News’s Fox and Friends about the potential for him to be booted from the speakership, as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) continues to dangle a motion to vacate over him.
“I don’t worry about the vacate motion at all. I’m here to do my job. I don’t think that’s going to happen,” Johnson said on Tuesday.
The Louisiana Republican also noted that the House of Representatives plans to vote on foreign aid to Ukraine, Israel, and others in separate bills, rather than a combined piece of legislation like what the Senate passed. He said it should ease concerns over the process that has caused some to threaten a motion to vacate.
