Tesla will now require its employees to install its improved self-driving technology in all of its vehicles.
Elon Musk, the CEO of the electric vehicle company, informed Tesla employees about implementing this “Full Self-Driving Capability” in its vehicles in a memo. FSD is an improved version of Tesla’s Autopilot technology, with Tesla owners able to receive the update for either $199 a month or as an upfront cost of $12,000.
“Going forward, it is mandatory in North America to install and activate FSD V12.3.1 and take customers on a short test ride before handing over the car,” Musk’s memo said, according to Bloomberg. “Almost no one actually realizes how well (supervised) FSD actually works. I know this will slow down the delivery process, but it is nonetheless a hard requirement.”
