Nearly half do not trust Supreme Court to handle Trump immunity case fairly

Months of negative coverage of the Supreme Court have left voters skeptical, as a plurality doesn’t have confidence the high court will issue a fair ruling in former President Donald Trump‘s petition for immunity.

In a Politico/Ipsos poll released on Monday, only 24% of adults said they trust the Supreme Court to issue a fair and nonpartisan ruling on the matter compared to 46% who said they do not trust the court. Of those surveyed, 29% said they did not know when asked if they trust the high court.

Among Democrats, the vast majority, 69%, said they do not trust the Supreme Court on the matter, compared to 14% who say they do. A plurality of independents, 47%, said they do not think the court will issue a fair ruling on presidential immunity for Trump,
