Pop singer Olivia Rodrigo is forgoing a plan to allow abortion-rights organizers to pass out emergency contraceptives to fans at her concerts.
Various abortion-rights organizations had been distributing Plan B contraception pills and condoms at her recent “Guts” show in St. Louis, Missouri, on Tuesday, drawing the attention of multiple social media users. However, Rodrigo’s team has since told the nonprofit organization National Network of Abortion Funds, which partnered with the singer to set up booths at her tour stops in North America, to halt these distributions because “children are present at the concerts,” according to a report.
“The idea that we haven’t been thoughtful or careful in carrying out our work at this event, or any event, is just incorrect,” Right By You founder Stephanie Kraft Sheley said.
