State of the Union 2024: ‘Squad’ members hold up signs calling for ‘lasting ceasefire’ in Gaza

Several “Squad” members of Congress called for a “lasting ceasefire” in the war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas terrorists during President Joe Biden‘s State of the Union address.

Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Cori Bush (D-MO) held up signs protesting Biden’s policy on the war in Gaza while the president discussed the war and efforts to secure a temporary humanitarian ceasefire.

The signs the two held up said “stop sending bombs” on one side and “lasting ceasefire now,” as Biden talked.

Biden affirmed Israel’s right to defend itself but also discussed humanitarian concerns about Palestinians.

“I’ve been working nonstop to establish an immediate ceasefire that would last for six weeks to get all the prisoners released — all the hostages released. It would get the hostages home and ease the intolerable humanitarian crisis and build toward something more enduring,” Biden said.
