Social Security update: April’s direct payment worth $943 goes out in 24 days

April’s monthly Supplemental Security Income payment, worth up to $943 for individual filers, will go out to millions of beneficiaries in 24 days.

The next installment will go out on Monday, April 1, to people who struggle with a debilitating disability and have a limited income, according to the Social Security Administration.

In order to qualify for the SSI payments, a person needs to be at least partially blind, or have a “physical or mental condition(s) that seriously limits their daily activities for a period of 12 months or more, or may be expected to result in death.”

The maximum amount each filer can get depends on how they applied for the payment. There are three categories for beneficiaries to file under: individual, joint, or essential person.
