Maryland’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will conclude the distribution of its March payments in 17 days.
Roughly 13% of Maryland’s population, about 772,700 people, relies on food stamps. The amount received varies depending on income and the size of the household, but the average amount is $180.
Distribution of food stamps in the state started Monday and will continue through March 23, with the first three letters of a recipient’s last name determining the specific distribution date for each household.
A full list of each last name and its corresponding date can be found here.
Single-person households can receive a maximum of $291, while an eight-person household can receive up to $1,751. Larger households can receive $219 for each additional person.
