Former President Donald Trump claimed victory in the Idaho Republican presidential caucuses on Saturday, marking his second win of the weekend and dealing a near-fatal blow to Nikki Haley’s presidential hopes.
The Associated Press called the race in Trump’s favor at 5 p.m. local time, just five hours after voters gathered at their local precincts to cast their ballots in the caucuses. The victory, which was all but expected for the former president, gives him a boost as he looks to lock up the GOP nomination in the coming weeks.
The victory comes after Trump also won the Missouri caucuses earlier in the day.
