University police in Colorado investigating homicide at dorms

Police at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs are investigating a homicide after two people were found dead from gunshots inside a dorm room on campus.

Campus police officers received a call regarding shots fired in a dorm room at 6 a.m. and pushed out an alert to the university community to have people on lockdown over reports of an active shooter. Minutes later, the UCCS Police issued another alert stating that there was no active shooter on campus.

Colorado Springs police said in a statement on X that campus police gained access to a dorm room at 6:05 a.m. and “discovered two deceased individuals, each with at least one gunshot wound.” The name of the dorm was not released by city police.
