Massachusetts GOP ousts longtime RNC leader amid state party shake-up

Massachusetts Republicans voted to remove the general chairman of the Republican National Convention on Saturday in an upset at a state committee meeting near Boston.

Former Republican National Committee Treasurer Ron Kaufman was removed from his position as a national committeeman and replaced by Brad Wyatt in a 37-35 vote, according to Politico.

The stunning vote meant the ousting of a GOP power player, who had spent decades working between Washington, D.C., and Massachusetts. Kaufman has worked for former President George H.W. Bush and advised former GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney on his campaign.
