President Joe Biden boasted about the strong March jobs report Friday morning, saying it’s a sign that his administration’s plans are working.
“Today’s report marks a milestone in America’s comeback,” he said in a prepared statement. “Three years ago, I inherited an economy on the brink. With today’s report of 303,000 new jobs in March, we have passed the milestone of 15 million jobs created since I took office.”
The 303,000 figure reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics exceeds the expected gain of 212,000 new jobs, which is favorable news for both the economy and Biden.
Unemployment fell to 3.8%, a historically low figure, despite the Federal Reserve’s interest rate target remaining at 5.25% to 5.5%, the highest level of this century. The numbers may give Biden more ammunition to boost his “Bidenomics” messaging
