Biden jokes he was a ‘classmate’ of Rutherford B. Hayes at Easter egg roll

President Joe Biden joked about his age and said he’s optimistic about the United States’s future during the 2024 White House Easter Egg Roll.

Biden quipped that he was a classmate of Rutherford B. Hayes, who began the tradition, during the event, which has been held every Easter Monday since 1878.

Hayes offered the White House grounds after Congress banned egg-rolling at the Capitol, and it has been held on the grounds of the executive mansion ever since.
