Biden administration leans into Transgender Day of Visibility celebration despite controversy

The Biden administration reiterated its observance of the Transgender Day of Visibility on Sunday, despite criticism from Republicans about the day falling on Easter Sunday. 

Multiple members of Biden’s White House, including himself, recognized the holiday through posts on social media. Biden announced on Friday that Sunday would be recognized as Transgender Day of Visibility, a day of observance that has occurred since 2009 on March 31 each year.

This year, however, Easter Sunday also fell on March 31, prompting an outcry from Republicans that Biden was “canceling” the religious holiday.
