Texas attorney general targets DEI in Boeing supplier investigation

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is targeting diversity, equity, and inclusion in his investigation into Boeing’s parts supplier to determine if the ideology contributed to safety issues.

Paxton launched an investigation into Spirit AeroSystems Holdings, Inc. on Thursday after what his office said are “reoccurring issues with certain airplane parts provided to Boeing,” including incidents involving fuselages used in the 737 jet.

Spirit has recently come under scrutiny for high-profile malfunctions, including the midair door plug blowout of an Alaska Airlines 737 Max 9 flight, which caused the airline to temporarily ground its fleet.

In addition to requesting documents related to Spirit’s manufacturing practices for its products, Paxton is also requesting documentation related to its DEI “commitments, and whether those commitments are unlawful or are compromising the company’s manufacturing processes.”
