Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) and other California officials are bracing themselves and their state for a second Trump term.
Knowing the state’s liberal policies would be a target for the former president, Newsom is “Trump-proofing” his state, according to Politico, to which the Trump campaign confirmed California’s electric vehicle policy would be a target of his presidency.
“We know the playbook,” Newsom said at the recent signing of a climate change agreement with Sweden. “We’re definitely trying to future-proof California in every way, shape, or form.”
In 2019, then-President Donald Trump revoked a California Clean Air Act waiver that allowed the state to set its own tailpipe emissions standards.
