Former RNC chairwoman joins NBC as on-air contributor following Trump rejig

Former Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel is joining NBC News as an on-air contributor after she resigned from her position within the GOP.

McDaniel will add a conservative voice to NBC’s lineup of political analysts. She is also expected to appear on MSNBC, the left-leaning affiliate of the network.

“It couldn’t be a more important moment to have a voice like Ronna’s on the team,” Carrie Budoff Brown, who oversees NBC News’s political coverage, wrote in a memo. She also added that McDaniel would add “an insider’s perspective on national politics and the future of the Republican Party.”

McDaniel stepped down from her position as chairwoman earlier this month after former President Donald Trump shook up RNC leadership. Michael Whatley and Lara Trump, the former president’s daughter-in-law, took over the position as co-chairpeople.
