Trump domination in Ohio isn’t enough to clear field for key Senate contest

Former President Donald Trump holds a commanding lead in the presidential race in Ohio, but that success for the GOP does not appear to be carrying over to the Buckeye State’s Senate race.

A poll of registered voters in Ohio from Emerson College and the Hill released on Wednesday shows Trump beating President Joe Biden, 50% to 41%, in the presidential race, but all three leading GOP candidates in the Senate contest trail incumbent Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH).

When Brown is matched against state Sen. Matt Dolan, he leads 37% to 34%, making it the closest of the three possible general election races. Brown also leads in hypothetical matchups with Bernie Moreno, 39% to 34%, and Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose, 39% to 33%.
