The Rev. Al Sharpton pushed White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Thursday on how President Joe Biden plans to address abortion and race relations in his fourth State of the Union address.
“Two of the issues that are burning in this country, among others, are the right of women to choose and where we are in terms of the racial gaps in this country,” Sharpton said while speaking with Jean-Pierre on MSNBC’s Morning Joe.
Sharpton acknowledged Biden’s “stern” abortion-rights positions and his efforts to close the race gap between white and black people, but he also asked Jean-Pierre how the president will build on previous State of the Union addresses to discuss these matters, as abortion-rights voters feel under attack and black people appear to have become “less
