Republican Steve Garvey is polling ahead of the Democrats in the running for California’s Senate seat, now in a “statistical tie” with front-runner Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA).
With the Super Tuesday primaries next week, the University of California, Berkeley, Institute of Governmental Studies released a final poll showing Garvey with support from 27% of likely voters, followed by Schiff at 25%. Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA), who has been competing with Garvey for second place in recent weeks, fell to third in the new poll unveiled Friday. Porter earned 19%, and Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) trailed the three contenders with 8%.
In a head-to-head contest, Schiff would initially hold a substantial lead over Garvey, coming in with 53% of support compared to Garvey’s 38%. But in a runoff between Schiff and Porter,
