Social Security update: March direct payment worth $943 goes out in one day

The Supplemental Security Income payment for March, worth up to $943 for individual filers, will go out to millions of beneficiaries on Friday.

The payment will go out tomorrow, March 1, to people who struggle with a serious debilitating disability and have a limited income, according to the Social Security Administration.

To qualify for the SSI payments, a person needs to be totally or partially blind or have a “physical or mental condition(s) that seriously limits their daily activities for a period of 12 months or more, or may be expected to result in death.”

The maximum amount each filer can get depends on the way each of the recipients applied for the payment. There are three categories for beneficiaries to file under: individual, joint, or as an essential person.
