Gov. Chris Sununu (R-NH) claimed Thursday that former President Donald Trump’s control over the Republican Party will not last forever, as “a**holes come and go” in positions of leadership.
The New Hampshire governor, a vocal critic of Trump, acknowledged that the Republican Party is very much the party of Trump at the moment, as the former president is at “the top” of the GOP. However, he added that Trump won’t be able to maintain the stronghold, as “we all have our time.”
“We do, so I’m very optimistic about the Republican Party,” Sununu said at Politico’s Governors Summit. “I’m very optimistic about where we’re going as a country.”
