Roughly one year after former University of Kentucky swimmer Riley Gaines said she was attacked at San Francisco State University, the campus police department has ended its investigation without charging a suspect.
Last April, Gaines was giving a speech at a Turning Point USA event on campus when she said protesters stormed in, interrupted the event with chants, and flicked the lights on and off. Gaines was led away by a police officer, and she told authorities she was held for hours in a room while protesters demanded a ransom.
“I was ambushed and physically hit twice by a man. This is proof that women need sex-protected spaces,” Gaines said of the experience on X, including some video footage. “Still only further assures me I’m doing something right. When they want you silent, speak louder.”
