Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-PA) has encouraged supporters of President Joe Biden to “stop worrying” about the president’s chances of reelection this November, suggesting instead that they work on rallying behind him.
Shapiro’s comments come in the wake of several polls that indicate a potential rematch between Biden and former President Donald Trump would be a very close race, with some even pointing to a Trump victory. The Democratic governor acknowledged that a 2020 rematch this fall could be close but that “the campaign hasn’t really even joined yet.”
“This is the reason why we run races,” Shapiro told ABC News. “And I would say to folks who are worried about the numbers: Stop worrying and start working.”
