Hochul proposes banning ‘deceptive’ AI used in misleading advertisements

Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) proposed banning the “deceptive” use of artificial intelligence, including its misleading use in advertisements.

Hochul’s office told Axios that the new proposed legislation would ban the “deceptive” use of AI in various manners and require the disclosure of AI usage in campaign ads. One of the laws would establish the crime of “unlawful dissemination or publication of a fabricated photographic, videographic, or audio record.”
