Blizzard has released an exclusive first look at gameplay cinematics from Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred, the upcoming second expansion arriving April 28, 2026.
The cutscene centers on Queen Adreona and Akarat, two characters bound by a shared mission against an encroaching supernatural threat. According to Blizzard's description, the sequence explores themes of faith and allegiance tested by deception, with unseen forces at work to undermine their partnership. The studio poses a central question to players: will they remain faithful to this alliance, or fall victim to manipulation?
Lord of Hatred will launch simultaneously across Battle.net, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Steam. The expansion follows Vessel of Hatred, which arrived as the franchise's first post-launch major content drop.
Diablo 4 itself launched in June 2023 to strong commercial success, though its endgame received mixed reviews from players. Vessel of Hatred introduced the Spiritborn class, new storyline content, and expanded the game's world-building significantly. Lord of Hatred appears positioned to continue that trajectory with fresh cinematics and narrative focus.
More exclusive coverage and details about the expansion are expected throughout April as part of this month's coverage push.
