A skydiver crashed into the Lane Stadium scoreboard Saturday ahead of Virginia Tech's spring football game, forcing emergency rescue operations and a delay to the start of play.
The skydiver's parachute became snagged above the field during what appears to have been a planned descent before the game. Emergency personnel responded quickly to secure the individual.
Virginia Tech officials confirmed the skydiver was rescued and remains in stable condition. The incident caused the spring game to be delayed as crews worked to safely extract the person from the scoreboard.
Author James Rodriguez: "A scoreboard wasn't the landing zone anyone planned for that day, but at least the ending was the one that mattered."
