Massive Nationwide Demonstrations Against Trump Administration Draw Millions in Third Wave of 'No Kings' Protests

A sweeping wave of grassroots activism unfolded across the United States as citizens gathered at approximately 2,100 locations to voice opposition to policies of the current administration. The demonstrations, collectively known as the "No Kings" movement, represented the third major protest surge since Trump's electoral return and drew participation from an estimated 4 million to 6 million attendees—a figure that would represent roughly 1.2 to 1.8 percent of the nation's total population.

The coordinated action involved more than 3,000 separate events held in communities spanning from major metropolitan areas to rural towns. Over 100 distinct organizations collaborated to coordinate the demonstrations, which operated under a strict commitment to peaceful assembly and nonviolent protest.

Data analyst G Elliott Morris, who operates the publication Strength in Numbers on Substack, conducted a comprehensive analysis of attendance figures across the country. His methodology involved collecting firsthand data from as many protest locations as possible, prioritizing verified counts published by local media outlets. In instances where published data proved unavailable, Morris's team incorporated estimates provided by event organizers and individual participants.

To extrapolate national participation numbers, Morris's team applied the median attendance figure from documented locations to estimate turnout at unreported events. This approach, Morris explained, provided an empirically grounded approximation while avoiding statistical distortions caused by exceptionally large urban gatherings.

The estimated turnout would potentially surpass the 2017 Women's March, previously considered among the largest single-day protests in contemporary American history, which drew between 3.3 million and 5.6 million demonstrators opposed to the incoming Trump administration's perceived gender-related policies.
