Trump on trial: First six jurors sworn in for hush money case

The criminal hush money trial against Donald Trump inched forward with jury selection on Tuesday after six people were sworn in to serve as jurors in the case against the former president.

New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan said he would ask the six jurors selected to return on Monday, though he cautioned that could change depending on the schedule. Seating six jurors completes roughly a third of the selection process, which began this week.

The process of jury selection, which is expected to take up to two weeks, can’t conclude without the selection of six more jurors and six alternates that are needed before opening arguments can commence. Attorneys for the prosecution and defense are vetting up to 500 potential jurors overall.
