Former Trump administration official shot during DC carjacking dies

A former Trump administration official who was shot during a carjacking Monday in Washington died of his injuries at 56 on Saturday, his wife said.

Mike Gill, who served as chief of staff for the Commodity Futures Trading Commission during the Trump administration, sustained life-threatening injuries, according to the Metropolitan Police Department, and was taken to a local hospital.

“It is with profound sadness that I wish to inform the community of the passing of my husband, Mike Gill,” Kristina Gill, his wife, said in a statement Saturday.

“His sudden departure has left a void in our lives that can never be filled,” she continued. “In this time of grief, we are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from family, friends, and the community, and extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has reached out to offer
