Dean Phillips pleads to Wisconsin Supreme Court to be put on the battleground state’s ballot

Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN), who is running against President Joe Biden for the Democratic presidential nomination, filed a petition with the Wisconsin Supreme Court for his name to be added to the state’s ballot ahead of the April 2 primary. 

The Biden challenger claims he was unlawfully excluded from the battleground state’s ballot by the Wisconsin Presidential Preference Selection Committee and the Wisconsin Election Commision, which only included Biden’s name despite asserting Phillips met the state’s ballot access standards. The standards say that a candidate has to be “generally advocated or recognized in the national news media,” per the Associated Press.
