DeSantis made his support for a bill in the Florida House clear during a press conference Friday. HB 1551 would remove the requirement that the Florida State Guard be deployed exclusively within the state. Florida has previously sent its National Guard to states in need, like California and Texas, but hasn’t deployed them for the sake of immigration yet.
“We may do more National Guard, but we also would be willing to do the Florida State Guard, and the reason why you would want to do the State Guard is because the president would not be able to federalize the State Guard,” DeSantis said.
