Ohio woman facing no charges after allegedly flushing corpse of stillborn fetus

An Ohio grand jury decided Thursday not to charge a woman accused of trying to flush the corpse of her stillborn fetus down the toilet.

Brittany Watts, a 34-year-old native of Warren, Ohio, was seemingly spared by the Trumbull County grand jury after its members chose not to indict her on charges related to felony abuse of a corpse, according to a report.

Had the legal process continued, Watts would have faced a prison sentence of up to five years and a $2,500 fine for allegedly passing the fetus she miscarried in September into a toilet.

There was probable cause to bind the case against Watts following the prosecution’s argument that she had tried to flush her 22-week-old fetus down a toilet because she had made multiple trips to Mercy Health-St. Joseph’s Hospital in
