Post-9/11 veterans saw suicide rates soar in the years before pandemic, study finds

A silent epidemic of suicides stalked the nation’s military veterans community, even before the global shutdown brought on by the COVID-19 shutdown. A new government-funded study released Monday found that suicide rates among veterans who served in the aftermath of the 9/11 terror attacks soared more than tenfold during the decade and a half before the pandemic hit.
