Capitol riot defendant claims prison guards beat and ‘torture’ inmates charged in relation to insurrection

One of the men arrested after participating in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol alleged that the prison guards subjected him and others to “mental torture.”

Ronald Sandlin was arrested on Jan. 29 and charged with assaulting an officer, as well as many of the same nonviolent charges most rioters face. During a bail hearing on Tuesday, he spoke out against the guards’ alleged behavior, according to Politico.
