South Africa lottery jackpot with unusual number sequence sparks allegations of fraud

Skeptics are critical of the supposed luck of 20 winners in South Africa’s national lottery, which is facing allegations of possible rigging.

A wave of criticism flooded social media after the sequence of the numbers drawn in Tuesday’s lottery were, in order, five, six, seven, eight, nine, and the Powerball being 10, according to the BBC.

“Congratulations to tonight’s 20 winners of the PowerBall draw,” lottery operator Ithuba tweeted. “These numbers may be unexpected, but we see many players opt to play these sequences.”
