Democrats warn Pence could spread coronavirus in the Senate if he presides over Monday vote to confirm Barrett

Senate Democrats don’t want Vice President Mike Pence to preside Monday over the confirmation vote of Amy Coney Barrett after reports some of his staff tested positive for coronavirus.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer sent a letter to fellow Democrats during a rare Sunday session to warn them not to congregate for long in the Senate chamber when Pence shows up.

“While CDC guidelines would dictate contract tracing a quarantining be practiced, our colleagues and the Vice President have indicated that they do not intend to follow such protocols,” Schumer, of New York, wrote. “The Vice President is maintaining his campaign schedule and, inexplicably, intends to preside over the Senate
