President Trump said he expects to announce his nominee for the Supreme Court “next week” and will be picking a woman.
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died at the age of 87 Friday evening, leaving a vacancy on the high court.
After telling reporters on Saturday that he would “most likely” choose a woman, the president asked the crowd at an evening “Great American Comeback” event in North Carolina to participate in a very “scientific” poll. He asked them to cheer for whether they’d rather have a male or female nominee. Overwhelmingly, the crowd cheered for the female choice.
