Columbia’s marching band dissolves after 116 years, citing founding based on ‘racism, cultural oppression, misogyny, and sexual harassment’

Columbia University’s marching band announced it is “unanimously and enthusiastically” disbanding because it was “founded on the basis of racism” and faced allegations of sexual harassment due to its culture.

“The marching band (!!) at @Columbia was apparently ‘founded on the basis of racism, cultural oppression, misogyny, and sexual harassment,’” former New York Times editor Bari Weiss tweeted Tuesday. “This left the band no choice but to disband ‘unanimously and enthusiastically.’”
