Native American Site at ‘Monument Hill’ in Arizona Blasted to Make Way for Trump Border Wall

Monument Hill at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument in Arizona, considered a sacred site by the Tohono Oʼodham Nation, is being blasted to make way for new construction on President Donald Trump’s border wall.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection says that the blasting at the site is “in preparation for new border wall system construction within the Roosevelt Reservation,” the Arizona Republic reported this week.

The blasting of Monument Hill is within the Roosevelt Reservation at Organ Pipe Cactus National monument. Arizona Republic has previously noted sites potentially at risk in constructing a wall through the Roosevelt Reservation, a sixty-foot wide strip of federally-controlled land along
