A new poll shows that President Trump’s approval among women is starkly lower than among men.
A Quinnipiac survey released Monday shows that 61% of women disapprove of the way Trump is handling his job, while 35% approve. That stands in contrast to men, 48% of whom approve of Trump and 46% of whom disapprove, marking a 15% difference in disapproval by gender.
Overall, 41% of voters approve of Trump with 54% expressing disapproval with his presidency.
The poll, which was conducted from Oct. 11-13, also found a slight increase in the number of people who think that Trump should be impeached and removed from office. Of those surveyed, 46% support impeachment while 48% do not. That is an increase of just one point from the last time the pollster released results on Oct. 8.
Longer-term trends in the poll, which has a 3.5% margin of error, show that since House Democrats started their impeachment inquiry into Trump, support for impeachment increased from 37% on Sept. 25 to 46% on Monday.
The impeachment inquiry was launched after an anonymous Intelligence Community whistleblower filed a complaint alleging that Trump improperly pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate his political rival, former Vice President Joe Biden.
