Former Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler has been taken to hospital after stabbing himself in the stomach, TMZ has said.
The 54-year-old was reportedly treated for non-life threatening injuries after the incident, which happened at his home in Los Angeles.
TMZ quoted authorities as saying someone at Adler’s home had called the police just after 6.30pm on Thursday evening to report a self-inflicted stabbing.
When paramedics and police arrived, they discovered it was Adler who had sustained the injury.
No one else is suspected to have been involved in the incident, the website reports.
Adler, whose real name is Michael Coletti, was one of the early members of Guns N’ Roses, but was kicked out of the band in 1990 over his drug use.
The musician has since been very open about his battles against substance abuse, having taken part in several reality television shows that document the rehabilitation process.
During his five years with the band, Adler appeared on several albums, including Appetite for Destruction.
In 2012, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with his other former band mates.
