Forget selfies from Ariana Grande and behind-the-scenes snaps from The Rock, you can now fill your Instagram feed with pictures from the CIA.
Complete with a verification badge and its first photo, the US intelligence service already has thousands of followers.
With a bio boasting of its ability to “accomplish what others cannot accomplish and go where others cannot go”, the CIA no doubt wanted to make sure their first picture was a good one – and they seem to have succeeded.
Followers have spent the past 24 hours trying to spot clues and other hidden details in a more-than-meets-the-eye photo captioned: “I spy with my little eye.”
What appears to be a mundane office environment is actually full of Easter eggs for would-be spies to find, including a name badge and parts of a Mission Impossible-esque disguise.
The badge can be seen attached to the trench coat hanging on the back of the chair, and features a headshot of CIA director Gina Haspel.
Also slung over the chair is a ridiculous wig you might see Tom Cruise wear when trying to infiltrate an enemy’s base, and just underneath is a burn bag – used to destroy classified documents.
Spread across the desk are maps of China, Russia and Iran, which is probably just a coincidence, and towards the back is a paper bag apparently containing top secrets.
The CIA has not responded to any of the user comments asking for feedback on what they have found so far.
Spokeswoman Chelsea Robinson told The Verge that joining Instagram was another way to share CIA stories and help its work in “recruiting talented Americans to serve here”.
The CIA already has hundreds of thousands of followers on Facebook and more than two million on Twitter, but Instagram users are typically a bit younger.
Still, don’t expect to see CIA agents posting selfies anytime soon.
