A man who prosecutors say cut the faces and necks of nine people as he rode around Los Angeles on a bicycle has been charged.
Lenrey Briones, 19, has been charged with seven counts of aggravated mayhem, two counts of attempted aggravated mayhem and one count of attempted second-degree robbery.
It is not known if he has an attorney.
Briones allegedly left his victims, one of whom was a 13-year-old boy, with slashing wounds after the attacks.
One victim required 20 stitches.
Stefany Coboz told KNBC-TV that she was cut under her ear and the attacker turned and laughed as he rode away.
Prosecutors claim Briones tried to take a victim’s purse in one instance.
Briones did not enter a plea during a brief court appearance and was remanded in custody on $9m (£6.9m) bail.
He could face life in prison if convicted on all counts.
The attacks began on 20 March, with the most recent occurring on Monday. Police responded to a radio call at 8.40pm and found a man suffering a severe wound to the side of his face.
A young woman was cut by the same attacker 15 minutes later.
