Ozzy Osbourne cancels all 2019 dates after falling at home

Ozzy Osbourne has cancelled all his tour dates for 2019 after falling and injuring himself while recovering from pneumonia.

A post on his Facebook page said he needed surgery last month after falling at his home in Los Angeles, aggravating injuries he sustained in a quad bike crash in 2003.

The accident, at his home in Buckinghamshire, left him with a broken neck vertebra, six broken ribs and a fractured collarbone.

The veteran rocker, 70, said he would recover from the latest injuries and finish his tour, but was feeling “angry and depressed” about the situation.

Rescheduled shows are due to begin in February 2020 and original tickets will be honoured, a statement on the Facebook page said.

But because some of the 2019 dates were festival appearances, “not all will be rescheduled,” it added.

For the moment, Osbourne will “remain under doctor’s care in Los Angeles as he recovers”.

It was announced in February that the heavy metal star – also known as The Prince of Darkness – was cancelling several tour dates as he recovered from pneumonia.

His wife Sharon said at the time that he had “spent some time in hospital” but was “through the worst part”.

Reflecting on the latest setback, Osbourne said: “I can’t believe I have to reschedule more tour dates.

“Words cannot express how frustrated, angry and depressed I am not to be able to tour right now.

“I’m grateful for the love and support I’m getting from my family, my band, friends and fans, it’s really what’s keeping me going.

“Just know that I am getting better every day… I will fully recover… I will finish my tour… I will be back!”

The singer formed Black Sabbath in 1969 with bass player Geezer Butler, drummer Bill Ward and guitarist Tony Iommi, and they are widely credited with inventing and popularising heavy metal music.

Born in Birmingham, Osbourne released 11 solo albums and sold more than 100 million records across the globe with Black Sabbath and on his own.

He also starred in reality TV show The Osbournes, from 2002, which followed him and his family.
